Vera holidays 2021
Looking for a sunny beach holiday with a difference? Want to feel the sun on your skin? Not only is Vera a beautiful beach resort on the Costa de Almeria, it also happens to be the nudist capital of Andalucía, with many hotels and beaches designated specially for nudists and naturists. So if you fancy the freedom of some skinny-dipping, Vera could be the place for you!
The resort boasts stunning surroundings, with a magnificent mountainous backdrop, miles of soft sandy beaches nearby, and fantastic views out across the Mediterranean. The town is full of historic architecture, lively street markets, and delicious restaurants serving local dishes such as cured Spanish ham, fresh seafood, gazpacho - and of course those tasty Spanish wines! Also a popular family destination, Vera has plenty of entertainment for all ages, including a fun water park.
Life’s a Beach on a Vera Holiday
The town of Vera is located slightly inland, while the famous Vera Playa is its nearby beach resort. Here you’ll find a vast golden stretch of sand, with umbrellas, palm trees, and plenty of beach bars. The 2km of beach surrounding Spain’s first nudist hotel, Vera Playa Club, is designated especially for nudists so if you fancy an all-over tan this is the spot for you. Behind the hotel there’s also a nudist complex, with shops, apartments and restaurants you can enjoy in the buff.
If that’s not your thing, don’t worry, there are still miles of beach where you’ll find beachgoers covering their modesty! A scenic promenade lines Vera beach, making it a lovely place for a relaxing stroll soaking up the sun and those breath-taking views. The water is warm and calm making it popular with families, and you’ll find lots of water sports to try.
Top Vera Attractions
You could easily spend your entire holiday enjoying Vera’s amazing beaches, but there are plenty of other things to see and do if you can tear yourself away from the sands!
If you love being active on holiday, there’s some great walks for you. Try following the coastal path all the way to Garrucha, or head into the Sierra Cabrera mountains behind the town to explore the hiking trails and remote mountain villages there. You’ll also be treated to spectacular views along the way.
Culture vultures will love the historic sites around Vera, such as the unusual 15th century church, Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de la Encarnacion, with its tall bell tower and leafy surroundings. The Plaza de Toros, or bullring, is also a fascinating sight and the location for many of the town’s fiestas and cultural events. The bustling Plaza Mayor has some gorgeous architecture, pavement cafes where you can grab a drink and watch the world go by, and the interesting Ethnographic and Archaeological Museum, where you can learn about the history of this beautiful area and its people.
For family fun, you can’t beat a trip to Vera’s water park, Parc Acuatico, to enjoy the pools, slides and flumes.
