Treasured Tangier holidays 2021
This colourful and vibrant city is a holidaymaker’s dream due to the wonderful climate, unspoilt beaches and prevalent historical importance. Tangier holidays are packed with ancient references and modern builds, giving a unique identity to the city in Morocco. The medina is the old section of the city that contains many of the monuments that attract tourists each summer. Local markets and restaurants maintain and present Moroccan culture for all to enjoy, whether indulging in a city tour commencing at the White City port steering towards Rabat and Casablanca, or hopping from museum to gallery in the city centre.
Something for Everyone
Holidays in Tangier are filled with many natural attractions steeped in mythology, one of which is the incredible Caves of Hercules. The both natural and manmade cave has two openings, one leading to the sea and the other to land. Legend has it that this is where Hercules rested before attempting his twelve labours. Nowadays the cave is a hub for fossils and pottery being sold by locals, sitting alongside preserved areas for visitors to explore. Historically holidays to Tangier have been peppered with style, and the city is still home to celebrations such as the Assilah Arts Festival featuring painters, movie screening and music performances taking place every year. The style and vibrancy is also prevalent throughout the many souks, selling traditional jewellery, fabrics and spices. The souks sit beside attractive historical monuments such as the Medina of Tangier and the Museum of Moroccan Arts, more than worth a visit. If visiting neighbouring towns is on your list of things to do, Marrakech is a must, as the major city hosts much of Morocco’s landmarks, including ancient mosques and the Saadian Tombs. Fez is similar in its diversity and plays host to many authentic markets and restaurants. Dine the native way at Dar Roumana or Restaurant Dar Hatim where you can admire the mosaics while sipping on some mint tea. Beach bums should head to Agadir to experience the luxury of one of Morocco’s best beaches. The Blue Flag beach boasts nine kilometres of golden sand and turquoise waters, an irresistible combination even for the most experienced beach goer.
