The main attraction of Playa de Talamanca is its gorgeous sandy beach, which is set in a sheltered bay 2 kilometres from the centre of Ibiza Town. A wooden boardwalk runs the whole, kilometre-long length of the beach, and is backed by scores of restaurants and cafés. A delightful stroll will bring you to the heart of Ibiza Town, where you can explore the steep, winding streets of the Dalt Vila, the historic quarter, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And, of course, Ibiza Town also offers some world-class nightlife.

The Playa de Talamanca is a fabulous, kilometre-long stretch of fine sand, with a host of facilities, including sunbeds and parasols for rent, lifeguard posts, showers, play areas, and plenty of beach bars and cafés. It’s the closest beach to the centre of Ibiza Town, so it can get quite full: arrive early for the best spots closest to the waterfront. The water is calm and shallow – ideal for even the youngest children – and you can rent pedaloes and kayaks to explore the expansive bay. There are lots of water sports on offer, from jet skis and banana boats to wakeboarding and paddle-boarding. A wooden boardwalk extends along the whole beach, and is lined with lots of convenient shops, cafés and restaurants.

There are even more options in the centre of Ibiza Town, just 2 kilometres away. Take your pick from international fast food chains, local seafood restaurants, hippy chic cafés, and some of the most glamorous dining establishments to be found anywhere in the world. Local dishes you may want to try include the famous seafood paella, perfectly fresh fish served straight off the grill, and the traditional Ibizan fisherman’s stew, bullit de peix.

The nightlife in Playa de Talamanca is relaxed and laid-back, reflecting the resort’s chilled-out vibe and popular appeal with families. There are lots of enticing beachfront bars, where you can relax with a cold drink, toes in the sand. But if it’s serious nightlife that you want, Ibiza Town delivers magnificently. Not for nothing is it known as the party capital of the Mediterranean, and you’ll find some of the biggest and best clubs anywhere here. But it’s not all about mega clubs: you’ll also find wine bars, cosy little jazz dives, concert halls, live music venues, outdoor cafés and plenty more in this vibrant and cosmopolitan city.

Playa de Talamanca has long been a popular destination for family holidays, thanks to its blissful sandy beach, great amenities and convenient location right next to Ibiza Town. The Playa de Talamanca is one of the longest sandy beaches in Ibiza, which is better known for its small bays and coves. You’ll find a great choice of water sports here, whether you simply fancy a bit of snorkelling or want to get out in the water on a jet ski or try some kite-surfing or paddle-boarding. You could also go sailing or sea fishing, or even go horse-riding along the beach. The island offers a fantastic network of hiking and mountain-biking routes, including some beautiful trails in Benimussa, which locals call ‘the hidden valley’, as well as in the Ses Salines nature reserve on the south of the island. You’ll also find lots of places for yoga, which is hugely popular on Ibiza.

Ibiza Town’s exquisitely preserved historic quarter has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The ‘Dalt Vila’ (which means ‘upper town’) is a wonderful, whitewashed warren of steep narrow streets still partially encircled by medieval walls. It’s a delight to explore, particularly for the stunning views over the harbour. There are lots of excellent museums, including the charming Puget Museum, which is set in a 15^th-century mansion and displays paintings depicting everyday life in Ibiza over the 19^th and early 20^th centuries. Also unmissable is the archaeological museum, which provides insight into the island’s long and fascinating history.
