Skiathos Town has recently found fame in the Mamma Mia! films and is often a hot-spot for celebs looking for a bit of rest and relaxation. Life really is a beach in Skiathos Town. The town itself overlooks the sea, with the nearest beach, Megalis Amos, just 1.5 kilometres away, which takes just a quick bus ride or is easy walking distance. Here you’ll find sand and shingles with crystal clear waters which shelve gently into the ocean, ideal for little children who just want to paddle or splash about. There are plenty of sun loungers available to rent if you like to unwind with a good book or soak up the warm rays of the sun. Those who are more active can try some of the water sports on offer, including water skiing in the calm waters of the morning or canoeing if you prefer to explore this pretty coastline.
Skiathos is a compact island lined with gorgeous bays waiting for those willing to travel just a little way. Less than half an hours driving will find you at beautiful Koukounaries beach, the most popular on the island thanks to its soft white sand, gently rolling waves and pine-fringed shores. Koukounariesis also the most buzzing beach well serviced by café’s, shops, eateries and activities. Banana beach and charming Agia Eleni beach are just around the headland from Koukounaries and tend to be slightly less busy while still delightful. Troulos resort on the South coast has a lovely beach and is even closer to Skiathos Town, while up in the North coast, just a 20-minute drive from your hotel, the ruggedly beautiful Lalaria Beach is waiting for those with n explorative streak, it is only accessible by boat.
