Introducing holidays to Riva
A bustling Italian town nestled at the northern end of the world famous Lake Garda, Riva del Garda is a picture perfect location to cross off your holiday wish-list. Doubling up as a tourist resort, this quintessential Italian town offers both the breath-taking views and tranquillity that Lake Garda offers but also all the amenities and facilities you would hope for on holiday. With magnificent mountains rising above either side, Riva sits right in the midst of the lake’s dramatic end.
Once belonging to Austria, the city’s streets and architecture are a little bit different to your standard Italian town, whilst still portraying all the famous traits of one of their cities. Exquisite dining and rich wine are the perfect accompaniment to the town’s harbour, park and beach. The second biggest town on the lake, Riva’s atmosphere is surprisingly vibrant but still peaceful enough to ensure ultimate relaxation.
Life’s a beach
Slightly different to your average beach holiday, Riva’s sandy offering sits on a beautiful lake rather than the ocean. But don’t think that means that it doesn’t offer everything you expect from a top quality beach. With beautiful sand, comfortable sun-loungers and a calm current, Sabbioni Beach is the perfect place to relax, top up your tan and take a dip in serene waters.
With breathtaking mountains wherever you look, you’d be forgiven for never wanting to leave the beach. But for those who prefer to look out to the water when on the beach, Riva offers an absolutely stunning walk up along the river - for when you want to finally stretch your legs and dry off! There are also a number of cafés and restaurants situated along the beach to cater to your every need.
Far from being the only thing to do in the town, Riva offers a number of other sights and activities to occupy your time. Different to many other destinations nearby, you can revel in the fact that all the shops, restaurants and bars are bespoke local ones offering a real authentic slice of the folks who live alongside gorgeous Lake Garda.
Riva is a largely flat town and walking across it is very manageable, but if you fancied something a bit higher-octane than a hike into some of its marvellous mountains is a must-do - so make sure you pack your hiking boots! If you like your activities on the water rather than the land, then the northern point of Lake Garda is an incredibly popular spot for windsurfing. Just a few miles to the north of Riva sits a wondrous waterfall; sure to provide you with some absolutely stunning photos to make friends at home jealous.
There a number of boat and ferry services offering day trips and more to the neighbouring towns, but with nightlife that appeals to the younger crowd and picturesque promenades for families and older couples to stroll down, you might not feel the need to!
