Your guide to Puerto Vallarta holidays
If you’re staying in Marina Vallarta you’ll find yourself ideally placed for visiting and exploring the Puerto Vallarta, which features a historic downtown area with plenty of ancient buildings and the beautiful Banderas Bay, the deepest natural beach in all of Mexico. The town area also has a water park, a seafront boardwalk, bustling central plaza and an amphitheatre. Another popular attraction with holidaymakers is the Marina Vallarta, with its 18-hole golf course located in the resort’s centre. With a tropical setting and picturesque views out over the Sierra Madre and Banderas Bay, golfing in Puerto Vallarta also means sightseeing. An attraction that is popular with people of all ages is the Vallarta Whale, a bronze sculpture at the entrance of the Marina. The sculpture was installed back in 2001 as a tribute piece to the whales that visit the harbour and Banderas Bay every year. The Marina itself is a major attraction, with plenty of yachts and boats to see throughout the days. You can also join an organised excursion or, if you’re an experienced sailor, charter a yacht of your own. Youngsters are catered for too, with the Marina Vallarta water park. The park has slides and a wave pool that children will have hours of fun in.
Puerto Vallarta has a large choice of fantastic beaches with clear waters and soft sand. Playa Conchas Chinas is a romantic a beautiful beach with sandy beaches and coves broken up by spectacular rocks jutting out into the sea. For action beachside, Los Muertos Beach is the place to go, where you will find water sports activities and beach volleyball as well cafés and restaurants along the front. Playa Camarones is also an excellent place for water sports, try your hand at paddle boarding or banana boating or simply just lying under an umbrella and soaking up the heat, listening to the waves lap the shore.
