Carvoeiro has become a popular resort, though its fishing village roots are still very visible. You should be able to sort out all of your shopping needs here.
Walkers will love some great cliff-top paths around the resort, including to a ruined 17th-century fort.
If you’re with the kids then there are water parks within easy tripping distance at Lagoa and Alantarilha. The Zoomarine sea life park is another family friendly outing. More adult, is the town of Silves, probably one of the most scenic in the whole Algarve, with its lovely hilltop castle and boat trips departing from its pretty river front.
