Located in the south eastern corner of Cyprus, Pernera is home to a series of coves and a lovely main beach, lined with bars, restaurants and hotels. Nearby Protaras is Pernera's active big sister, generally livelier at night and a bit more raucous, condering its proximity to Ayia Napa. Pernera, however, is ideal for families, as the gently sloping beach, laidback vibes and small, hidden coves make for a relaxing family holiday.
Pernera is ideal for families. Beyond its excellent beach, you'll also find a number of bars and restaurants with a chilled-out, friendly vibe. They're used to catering for families so expect a warm welcome. In the evening the resort is not completely dead - although still not comparable to Protaras or Ayia Napa - but this is all the better if you're looking for a laid-back family holiday.
Follow the coastal path to Protaras to check out the busier resort, its a lovely walk along the coast with great views of the sea. You'll also find a number of restaurants on the route to stop and enjoy the atmosphere. If you don't fancy the walk, the bus to Protaras is dead cheap, around a Euro for a one way trip.
A series of small coves dot the coastline, each with a variety of gently sloping sand and pebbly beaches. Pernera's main beach, which is right at the front of the resort, is large and sandy. Watersports such as diving and waterskiing are available, but it's also just a great beach for relaxing on. Perfectly suitable for families with young children, the beach at Pernera is a safe space for them to play, plus there's a playground just off the beach.
