Introducing holidays to Pastida
Pastida is a small, quiet village in northern Rhodes, ideal for holidaymakers looking for a laid-back vacation. The village has slender, winding streets and a charmingly old-fashioned village square dotted with traditional Greek tavernas. Pastida is a great destination for experiencing traditional village life in Greece while immersing yourself in some of the less crowded historical sites in the country.
A trip to the village also feels like a trip back in time, as there are no cars permitted in the village. If you’re craving time away from the hustle and bustle of modern life and want to unplug from all your phones, computers and tablets, Pastida is the place to go. The lack of cars leaves you free to amble through the streets at your own pace. All these features make for a wonderful area for both families with children and couples on a romantic holiday.
Life’s a beach
As a compact, tranquil village, Pastida isn’t jam-packed with attractions, which is part of its appeal for a relaxing holiday destination. Only a five-minute drive away at Kresmasti, you’ll find a beautiful sandy beach with a lengthy mass of sand and pebbles, an ideal location to work on your holiday tan or splash about in the sea. The waters are warm and clear, with a narrow shelf that quickly deepens, creating an ideal environment for snorkelling and swimming.
The beach is relatively quiet in comparison with other local beaches such as Lalyssos and Ixia, but it is still complete with sunbeds and parasols to protect you from the powerful sun. As it’s largely pebble-covered, the beach is not very suitable for walking barefoot and you’ll want to bring shoes to make your stroll comfortable. Fortunately, the near-constant breeze on the beach provides the ideal conditions for kitesurfing or windsurfing, and prevents the climate from becoming too stuffy. You’ll find several restaurants and cafes along the beach for grabbing drinks and refreshments during the day.
The secluded location and wonderful natural beauty of Pastida make it a truly memorable holiday experience. There are few tourist resorts that can offer streets and air unspoilt by cars, providing idyllic peace and quiet. The tranquillity of Pastida means you can enjoy a stress-free holiday without distractions. Due to its small size, you can simply get up and meander into the village, coming across a small but pleasant selection of shops and tavernas where you can sample traditional Greek cuisine and search for souvenirs.
A vacation in Pastida gives you a great opportunity to explore historical locations such as the ancient site of Kamiros, the acropolis in the stunning town of Lindos and the Lalyssos Acropolis on Mount Filerimos. If you’d prefer to have a more diverse choice of restaurants and bars, you can take a trip to one of the nearby resorts of Trianta or Kremasti. Another must-do while visiting Pastida is a day trip to Old Rhodes Town, taking a boat trip from the harbour to the close-by islands of Symi and the famous harbour of Marmaris in Turkey.
