Introducing holidays to Oropesa del Mar
You’ve probably heard of the famous Spanish coastal regions. Costa Blanca, Costa del Sol, Costa Brava… But what about the unsung hero of Spanish beach holidays, the Costa del Azahar? The beautiful Orange Blossom Coast is becoming more and more popular with holidaymakers as they discover the gorgeous sandy beaches, delicious local seafood and relaxing vibe this stretch of coastline has to offer. Located to the north of Valencia and to the south of Barcelona, the Costa del Azahar is home to some top beach holiday destinations – and Oropesa del Mar is one of them. Perched upon a hill where white-washed buildings tumble colourfully down towards great hotels and soft golden sands, Oropesa has evolved from a defensive outpost against pirates, to a welcoming town with everything you need for a relaxing beach holiday. Enjoy the watersports, stroll through the historic old town, feel the Spanish sunshine on your face – and breathe in those stunning views out towards Majorca and Ibiza.
Life’s a beach
Oropesa del Mar boasts no less than seven different beaches covering 12km of coastline, so you’re sure to find a spot you love. The three largest beaches, Les Amplaries, Morro de Gos and La Concha are fully accessible and have been awarded Blue Flags for cleanliness. You’ll find fantastic facilities including changing rooms and showers, bars and restaurants, and beachfront promenades. Try your hand at some watersports, splash around with the family in the warm shallow waters, and enjoy a cold beer with ocean views. If you prefer to head to a smaller, quieter beach you’ve also got plenty of choice in Oropesa del Mar. Oropesa la Vella Cove is a lovely secluded beach with fine golden sands, while El Retor Cove’s sheltered location make it a great spot for swimming. For a really unspoilt, wild beach, head to La Renega Beach where pine forests meet the rocky coast to create a beautiful setting.
Oropesa del Mar’s beautiful coastline and great amenities make it a wonderful destination for a relaxing beach holiday. If you like to leave the beach now and then don’t worry, there’s plenty to keep you entertained away from the sands!
You’ll find some interesting history and culture in Oropesa del Mar. You’ll find the historic old town up the hill above the more modern areas of the town. It’s a lovely area to explore, don’t miss the Church of Virgen de la Pacienca, famous for its 18th-century architecture and majestic size.
Oropesa celebrates its spectacular Mediterranean coastal setting with plenty of sea-faring activities on offer, from jet-skiing to sailing.
