Outstanding Oia holidays 2021
The stunning town of Oia is a great choice for a cheap holiday in Greece for your 2021 holiday. Oia is widely considered to be the most beautiful of the towns on the island of Santorini. Surprisingly, Oia is phonetically pronounced like ‘la’, a name that embodies the rural charm of this traditional Greek village. Every sunrise and sunset, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the sun over the blue waters of the Aegean Sea. The relaxing traditional Greek lifestyle of Oia makes it appealing to families, couples and groups of friends alike.
A holiday in Oia puts you within easy reach of the northern end of Santorini, with some of the most stunning scenery the region has to offer. Oia’s clifftop location has views of the Palia Voncano, with views reaching as far as Thirassia island. In the town itself, you’ll find narrow streets, authentic blue and white buildings and sun-drenched verandas, with a skyline dotted with historic church spires. If you’re considering Oia for your next holiday in Greece, you’ll be just 11 kilometres from the main town in Santorini, Fira, with a wide selection of shops, a vibrant nightlife scene, historic ruins and a range of museums. Holidays to Oia are the ideal choice for those looking for a good balance between a relaxed beach resort holiday, and a place with a great culture and history.

Your guide to Oia holidays
The top attraction you’ll find on holiday in Oia is the town itself. Oia is hailed as one of the most undeniably beautiful towns in Santorini, with winding streets, traditional blue and white architecture and a number of scenic courtyards and squares. The landscape is broken up by the odd domed church, while you can simply wander around the village to stumble upon craft shops, art galleries and souvenir stands to make for fuss-free entertainment on lazy days. In the surrounding area, the top attractions include Amoudi Bay, the Domaine Sigalas vineyard and winery, the historic Church of Panagia, Byzantine Castle Ruins and the Mnemossyne Art Gallery.
Situated on the northern coast of Santorini, Oia is surrounded by some beautiful beaches which can be reached by bus, foot or car. Koloumbo beach is situated to the east of Oia, close to Baxedes. This beach is backed by a high cliff and lined with black pebbles, with a slightly wild, untamed landscape that remains largely untouched by tourism. Thanks to the relatively secluded setting, you can enjoy peace, quiet and natural beauty at Koloumbo, with plenty of shade provided by the cliffs at the back of the beach. Ammoudi beach can be accessed by mule, on foot or by car via the roads, or by taking the stepped walkway from Oia. At Ammoudi, you’ll find a number of good restaurants on the beach, so you can enjoy a meal and refreshing drinks as you watch the boats and yachts anchor at the port of Armeni.
