Qawra is one of a trio of resorts on the Bay, including St Paul’s Bay itself, Bugibba to the north, and Qawra. St Paul’s Bay is the oldest part of the town on a bay that owes its name to the reported shipwreck of the biblical Apostle offshore. Part of a larger complex, the Qawra Palace has a sea-front location which has Malta’s characteristic rocky shorelines. You will find some sand at nearby Golden Sands where the waters are wonderful for swimming. Diving and sailing are favourite Maltese pursuits, and you’ll find all of these close to the hotel. Qawra is the newest of the St Paul’s Bay resorts, so you won’t have far to go to find some dining, shopping and entertainment aimed at tourists. Bugibba is probably a little livelier, with a cinema and casino among its attractions. The old town of St Paul’s Bay is an attractive contrast, and the stylish towns of Sliema (also home to a major water park) and the capital Valetta are within easy reach.
