If you don’t wish to travel far, then there is the Beach of Paina which is situated not far from the Castello Scaligero. Malcesine has always been a popular holiday destination for tourists. Its breath-taking views, magnificent buildings and rich history have attracted writers and artists such as the German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.   The Castello Scagligero and the Palazzo Dei Capitani allows you to learn about Malcesine’s intriguing history and the rooms in both buildings are used to exhibit the work of painters and sculptors. Malcesine has many cultural events. It hosts sports competitions including marathons, and it regularly holds music concerts at the Castello Scaligero. Also, you can go to the II Festival del Garda. This is a yearly festival that travels around the shores of the Lake Garda. The event starts in July and ends in August. One of the events included is the beauty competition for Miss and Mr Del Garda. Also, every October you can watch or take part in the International Marathon at the northern end of Lake Garda. The marathon starts in Limone and ends in Malcesine.
