Kamari holidays 2020
A charming seaside village found nestled along the southeast coast of Santorini, Kamari’s velvety black sand beaches, and its relaxing, peaceful atmosphere make it one of the most desirable destinations in the Mediterranean. Nested at the base of the rugged Mesa Vouno rock, the area is truly unique and offers some stunning vistas. Its main cobbled promenade is brimming with traditional tavernas, cafes, bars, and elegant restaurants, all ready for you to sample your way through – perhaps collecting some free shots of Grecian aperitif Ouzo as you go!
Those wishing to take their holiday here in 2020 will soon find the island of Santorini is one of the archipelago’s crown jewels – and for good reason. Pockets of snow-white Grecian houses nestle between craggy rock-faces and lush greenery, before fanning out towards the indigo Aegean sea. Villages like the hilltop Oia and the enchanting Minoan site of Akrotiri make for perfect day trips and opportunities to soak up some local history and culture.

Things to do in Kamari
Located at the foot of Mount Elijah, a holiday in Kamari offers breathtaking views and deep azure waters, as well as plenty of non-beach activities: including tennis and even horse riding. Take an amble around the resorts many shops in search of that perfect souvenir, or perhaps watch a classic noir film at the open-air cinema. If you’re after a more cultural retail trip, head to the island’s capital of Thira to amble the warren of cobbled streets lined with typically Grecian white-washed buildings, market stalls brimming with traditional crafts, and blue-domed churches where pious locals light candles for the saints.
If you’re into sightseeing, a holiday to Kamari makes for an ideal choice. The Minoan village of Akrotiri is one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Greece and lies only a short car or bus journey away. The ancient town of Thera is another option popular with history-buffs, dating back to the Roman period. Your trip wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the island’s ancient capital, Thira. Enjoy panoramic views of indigo seas that inspired Greek myths thousands of years ago, or head to the Archaeological Museum for Roman relics. Once you’ve had your fill of culture and history, head back to one of Kamari’s local tavernas for a meal under the stars.
Kamari’s long, black-sanded shores and warm, dappled waters are the beating heart of the resort. The famous, two-kilometre-long stretch gives you plenty of space to find the perfect spot. Once the sun is at its highest, venture into the waters crystal-clear depths which are ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving, and offer a rich and intriguing volcanic underwater landscape that is ripe for exploration.
The island is smattered with a whole host of beaches and coves, every one different from the last. Just a twenty-minute drive from Kamari, you’ll find Akrotiri’s Red Beach, one of the most famous on Santorini. Ancient volcanic explosions have left Akrotiri’s shores red, which have drawn in curious travellers for hundreds of years. Shielded by a dramatic cliff-face, this vivid beach is secluded enough to feel private, yet close to cafes and restaurants should you feel peckish.
