What to do in Dubai City

When in Dubai City, it really depends on what you want to do – because you can just about do anything here. In the mood for some skydiving? Hot air ballooning over the desert? Camel riding? Shopping? Sunbathing? Swimming? Fine dining? Choose some or all of the above and get going!

Water sports enthusiasts can opt for water skiing, wakeboarding and swimming with dolphins: there is a wide selection of beaches here, from budget-friendly options to opulent beach clubs. Every foodie will be able to appreciate the dining scene of Dubai considering there is everything here from local Emirati cuisine to international dishes. Go on a gastronomic adventure which mixes Levantine, Moroccan and Emirate flavours or dine in some world-class restaurants serving traditional French, al-fresco Italian, Asian fusions and even some British fine dining options.

Shopping

This is every shopper’s paradise – Dubai City has taken the idea of shopping and completely redefined it adding its own personal touch. Diversity is the key word here once again: from large fashion houses like Chanel and Dior to fast fashion shops like Zara, from massive malls to atmospheric souqs, there seems to be a place for every brand, store and colourful fabric under the sun. Plus, the city hosts Dubai Shopping Festival each year to further prove its rightful place in every shopaholic’s heart.

Culture

Dubai has a rich culture that goes well beyond the visible: there is so much more to this glamorous city than high-rise buildings. Dubai City grew from a small fishing village to the modern metropolis we now know and this can still be seen in the Dubai Museum and the Al Fahidi Historic District. Bedouin life is another fascinating and vital part of the building of Dubai and you are invited to sample that, too – some desert safaris offer a breakfast with a real-life Bedouin, a one of a lifetime opportunity that allows you to get to know a different culture in a truly unique way.
