If Malta is known as the jewel in the Mediterranean’s crown, then Attard simply must be the sparkle in Malta’s burning bright jewel. Attard holidays are all about relaxing, and this pristine, exceptionally good-looking destination knows just how to rid you of all those everyday stresses. Convinced yet? Step into your very own hidden escape and allow Attard to be the destination you’ve been dreaming of. With rustic, stone-washed buildings, oodles of charm and a carefree attitude, with so many things to do this is the place for that Mediterranean break you’ve been yearning for.
There are many reasons why Malta is becoming such a popular destination – and a lot of them revolve around its pristine location in the heart of the Mediterranean. Think azure-blue waves, old world charm and glorious sunshine… mmm, it really is as good as it sounds. And Attard? Well, Attard is found in the heart of Malta – so, it’s the heart within the heart of the Mediterranean, which, we’re sure you’ll agree, is a pretty impressive title. Whether the variety of things to do in Attard ticks your boxes or not, the beautiful location and surrounding gardens are destined to make up for that.
As a tranquil resort in an unspoiled location, Attard houses only a small selection of restaurants, but for what they lack in quantity, they certainly don’t lack in quality. From cafes serving delicious cakes and pastries to al fresco lunches amongst Attard’s attractions of beautiful buildings, there’s plenty to appreciate … and appreciate it you will. If you’d like a bigger taste of Malta’s irresistible flavours, head into nearby Valletta, the island’s capital, where there’s a whole realm of taste bud-tantalising menus to sink your teeth into.
The worldwide understanding of this island is that it’s sublimely beautiful, and Attard doesn’t let the Malta team down. The labyrinthine passages that make up the town are the perfect place for a soothing meander, while the inherent charm that oozes out of the area’s core is sure to draw you in. Take in the sights and laze around the gardens that adorn its open spaces – they’re simply divine. The San Anton Palace and Gardens are one of the town’s best so make sure you visit – you wouldn’t want to arrive home without seeing the area’s most loved spot now, would you? With all this gentle, care-free relaxation to take advantage of, Attard holidays are best suited to couples or families. If you are visiting as a family, be sure to welcome the idea of exploring all of Malta’s corners. This little island has gems to discover everywhere, and the kids won’t appreciate being confined to one area.
Action & Adventure
The list of things to do in Attard won’t break any long-list records, but a holiday is an adventure in itself, right? The adventure you’ll have here is one of discovering what you like most – and we reckon it’ll be sunbathing around a pool while that Maltese sunshine rains down upon you, or perhaps gently meandering through the twists and turns of this iridescent town in Malta is more your idea of adventurous exploration? Discovering the rest of the island, meanwhile, has never been easier – the ancient town of Mdina is only a short journey away, and we mentioned that the UNESCO World Heritage site of Valletta is just up the road, too, didn’t we?
Attard is generally a pretty peaceful town. Saying that, Uno Village, the largest open-air club in Malta, is located in Attard, so it's not all peace and quiet. Otherwise, Attard is mostly made up of wine bars, cafes and small restaurants catering to the flow of meandering tourists through its old town.
Our favourite of all Attard attractions is its instant, coursing-through-your-veins feeling of utmost serenity – which we think makes it pretty ideal for both families and couples. However, if you want tranquillity at its best, discover the delights of Attard with your lesser half (we’ve got our priorities straight here). The area has a most-welcomed feel of exclusivity with its picturesque gardens, cobbled streets and gorgeous houses – it really does get those romantic juices flowing. Marvel at the beautiful parish, indulge in a picnic for two at the San Anton Gardens or grab a bite to eat at one of the area’s charismatic cafes.
Malta is one of the world’s most culturally and historically fascinating countries, and we’re here to show you that many things to do in Attard are sure to impress. Take the San Anton Palace; even the name conjures up images of beauty – and that image won’t be wrong. Marvel at the fascinating architecture, including the gold and white statue of the Virgin Mary, before heading outside to really appreciate Malta’s unfathomable beauty. There’s nothing quite like it! The Parish church of Attard, meanwhile, is another beautiful building, and as it sits below a deep, blue sky, we know that you’ll know you’ve made the right holiday choice.
