Ajman family holidays
A visit to Ajman is a holiday where you can well and truly relax. If you’d like to get away from it all with the whole family, Ajman holidays are simply wonderful. Ajman Beach is the best spot to take the little ones, as the water is clear and perfect for splashing or swimming about. Plus, the beach’s golden sand is great for lounging or building sandcastles. On top of that, if you’d like an educational visit during your Ajman holiday, head to the Ajman Museum. Here, the kids (and adults!) can learn all about Ajman’s history in this impressive 18th-century fort. On the other hand, you can add Magic Planet to the list – a place where the kids can let loose and have fun on a number of rides and games.
Ajman history and culture
Ajman’s history dates back to 3000 BC, discovered by the many archaeological remains that can be found throughout the emirate. Many archaeological finds are on display in the Ajman museum, where you can find out all about the history of the emirate. It is thought that Ajman’s modern-day history dates back to 1810, thanks to the Al Nuaim tribe who settled along the coast. In turn, they created what would become Ajman’s principle industries in the form of fishing and pearling.
The culture in Ajman is perhaps best-known for its friendly hospitality. Aside from making others welcome, there are plenty of cultural highlights to witness in the emirate. From the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and Sharjah mosque to enjoying the Emirati cuisine, there plenty to keep you preoccupied. Ramadan is also a very important holiday in Ajman, with Eid celebrations taking centre stage with copious amounts of food and festivals.
Ajman isn’t best-known for its nightlife as it is often considered one of the quieter emirates of the UAE. But there are still great places to go during the evenings and throughout the night which offer a lively atmosphere and loads of fun.
