Nearby Lake Korission is a gorgeous lagoon and also natural park, replete with stunning wild beaches, fabulous views and numerous flora and fauna. The surrounding area has plenty of hiking and biking trails, where you can spot a diverse range of wildlife in their natural habitat. There is also an array of charming taverns and bars in Aghios Georgios South, with many offering hearty, delicious portions of traditional dishes at reasonable prices alongside a cosy and relaxed atmosphere.

This area of the island is well connected to the rest of Corfu by road. The main town, also named Corfu, is under an hour's drive away and is a treasure-trove of culture and history, with the Byzantine Museum being a particularly engaging and informative day out. The cobbled streets of the old town give it a quaint feel, but it is also home to several upmarket stores and restaurants. There are numerous other cultural sites to explore on the island; with 5,000 years of history at your doorstep and a perfect Mediterranean climate, Aghios Georgios South really is a wonderful place to be.

Holidays to Aghios Georgios South are all about rest, relaxation and feeling the sand between your toes. The southern Corfu coast has an almost endless amount of powder soft sand and the area around Aghios Georgios South has some of the most idyllic coastlines in that stretch. The area has shallow waters so you can safely take a dip, and the entire stretch of beach is lined with numerous places to grab a drink, snack or even some extra sun cream.

If you're feeling adventurous you can try your hand at any number of water sports, from kayaking to going on a banana boat - there are rental shops and centres all around. The surrounding beaches are renowned for their party atmospheres, especially in the Kavos area which is only a 30-minute drive away - here you can go on coastal boat tours, or on one of the famous Kavos party boats if you want to let your hair down.
