Our Top Tip For Spain

One hour from Almeria is the beautiful town of Mojacar. Nestled in the hilltops overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, its white-washed houses and cobbled streets are typically Andalusian. Its beautiful beaches, however, are the main attraction, including beautiful Cala Del Plomo.

Why choose Spain?

Across Spain, you will find enormous differences in cuisine, landscape and approach to life, allowing you to experience various cultures all collected in one country. For example, travelling to the north, your best bet is Barcelona. By flying to Barcelona you can experience the city itself, or travel to Sitges, Tarragona and Girona, as well as the French border. Barcelona is one of Spain's most popular city break destinations since there is just so much on offer here, from amazing cultural, artistic and historical attractions to its fabulous urban beaches.

Heading further down, you'll find the famous Costa Blanca, Costa del Sol and Costa Almeria which are filled with beach resorts. Malaga is considered to be the gateway to the Costa del Sol and its airport provides a link to the likes of TorremolinosBenalmadena, NerjaMarbella and Fuengirola, to name just a few of the region's popular resorts - not to mention the city of Malaga itself. Alicante is perfect if you want to visit one of Spain's other top coastal regions - the Costa Blanca. As well as Alicante, the main resorts located here include Benidorm, Elche, Javea and Calpe, all of which are easily accessible from this main aviation hub.

Costa de Almeria is one of Spain's quieter, untouched coastal regions that are home to some areas of outstanding natural beauty, such as the Cape Gata Biosphere Reserve. Fly into Almeria, from where you can discover stunning landscapes and peaceful towns, such as Mojacar.

On the Southern coast, you'll find the Gibraltar peninsula. Although it is an unusual tourist destination that's actually a British overseas territory, rather than part of Spain, it's home to a range of fascinating historical sites, as well as some amazing wildlife.

Looking for a city break but want an alternative to Barcelona? Madrid is the one for you. A city filled with boulevards and green luscious parks, with a wealth of shops and a bustling night-life, this city has a real buzz and is an ideal destination for a weekend away.

Then, of course, there are the stunning Balearic Islands of Ibiza, Majorca and Menorca, along with the diverse Canary Islands that can offer a holiday break to suit. Hre you can find Fuerteventura that provides some of Europe's most raucous nightlife and beautiful settings. Or the resort lifestyle you can attain from a holiday in Alicante - a day stretched out on the coast with the turquoise water and the sand your only companions can only be described as bliss. Whatever type of holiday you're seeking, you can find it in Espana.

Spain highlights

Energetic markets

Your local highlights on holiday will naturally depend on whereabouts you travel to, but we'll start with some omnipresent and quintessentially Spanish attractions you should make it your business to discover. For a start, you haven't been on holiday in Spain until you've been to a Spanish market. La Boqueria in Barcelona is a great choice, there's always a hive of activity and colour, sensations and smells - and it's the best place to find fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, and tasty Spanish treats.

Spanish sands

The country's beaches stretch for miles, incorporating coastline with every twist and turn. Swimming in turquoise waters in between your cultural excursions is the perfect way to refresh yourself, especially if you combine it with a good book on the sands. Great beaches can be found everywhere throughout the country, but Tenerife's volcanic sands are internationally renowned.

Flamenco dance

You won't want to leave Spain until you've witnessed the sharp stylings of the flamenco dance. Theatres all over the nation pay homage to this fantastic dance style. Dramatically dressed all in black and red, the ladies take to the stage to the sound of live Spanish guitar, delicately picked at unimaginable speeds. These shows are accessible in cities throughout the country.

Food, glorious food

Spain's gastronomic scene is varied and exciting, as you would expect from the country where tapas were invented. This method of eating - which involves ordering many little plates and sharing with everyone - is a highly social experience and is best enjoyed in a traditional tapas bar. Here, you will have to call for the attention of those serving as they simultaneously cater to dozens of diners all at once. By the coast, you'll taste fish so fresh that it will melt into your taste buds. Inland, meat is preferred, with Iberian and Serrano ham served with cheese onto crusty bread.

In short, Spain is a wealth of experiences that you won't want to miss out on and no matter where you go, there will always be something incredible to see or do. Unique gastronomy, a variety of cultures and a plethora of historical attractions, this is a country that you will always want to return to. To see the country in style, try an all inclusive holiday to Spain.
