In order to get going on holidays as stress free and enjoyable as possible, we have compiled a list of commonly asked questions our customers want answer to.

Do I need to pay departure tax in Malaysia?

Passengers departing on a flight from Malaysia from 1 September 2019 onwards will have to pay tax in the form of a departure levy ranging from RM8 to RM150.

The details are as follows:

Flying to ASEAN countries

  • Economy Class RM8
  • Non-economy Class RM50

Flying to non-ASEAN countries

  • Economy Class RM20
  • Non-economy Class RM150

Exempted from paying:

  • Babies, toddlers under 24 months
  • Passengers on transit flights through Malaysia (transit less than 12 hours)
  • Crew on duty

ASEAN countries are: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Economy class refers to flights that are advertised and sold by airlines using economic terms or their equivalent, or having the lowest prices when compared to other packages.
