The Caribbean
February is a fantastic month for a Caribbean holiday. Temperatures are in the mid to high 20s, the sea is a balmy 26°C, and the Christmas crowds have gone. Why not head to vibrant Cancun on the Maya Riviera, where you can mix basking on great beaches with sightseeing among the extraordinary Mayan monuments? Or head off to captivating Jamaica, perhaps to the vibrant city of Montego Bay? Other outstanding destinations in this area include Barbados and Cuba, blissful sun-drenched islands with very little rainfall.
Thailand
Head to the ‘Land of Smiles’ if you really want to banish the winter blues! February is the tail end of the cool season in Thailand – which means temperatures average the high 20s. Why not head to Phuket, which boasts more than 40 kilometres of coastline to explore? It may be most famous for its party scene, but you can escape the hubbub in secluded coves, or plunge into the spectacular wilderness of the National Park.
Cape Verde
If you’re looking for somewhere different for your escape, then how about Cape Verde? These beautiful islands sit in the Atlantic about 300 miles west of the African coast. They are just a 6-hour flight away, and you won’t have to worry about jet lag, as there is only an hour’s time difference with the UK. Short haul February holidays
Canary Islands
A perennially popular February holiday destination, thanks to their spectacular landscapes, gorgeous beaches and enticing towns and resorts. Just a 3-hour flight from the UK, the Canaries are quiet in February, while temperatures average around 20°C – ideal hiking weather, if you want to explore one of the many nature reserves and national parks. And perfect for lingering over a long lunch in the sunshine.
Spain
A fantastic place for a quick and easy winter getaway. Ever-popular Benidorm on the Costa Blanca makes for a fun and affordable break, and you won’t have to deal with the summer crowds. If you fancy a city break, you could try seductive Seville, where the thermometer regularly hovers around 20°C in February. Ideal for enjoying some tapas out on a jasmine-scented square in the sunshine!
