Well, it’s time to feed your curiosity. With a mixture of new getaways you should try, and old favourites you should return to, we’ve compiled the ultimate list of 2021 summer holidays.

    Old favourite: The Canary Islands

Situated off the coast of northwestern Africa, these Spanish islands are always a popular spot for families and couples alike. They’re best known for their volcanic landscapes and unique black sand beaches. The Canaries offer year-round sunshine, but you can expect temperatures to peak during the summer. We’re talking about 28° in July and August!

Each Canary Island has something for everyone, yet is unique in their own ways. Tenerife is the largest island with lively resort areas and views dominated by Mount Teide. Lanzarote offers interesting landscapes like the Timanfaya National Park and the fascinating Cueva de los Verdes. Fuerteventura is quiet, laid-back and known for its ideal water sports conditions, whilst Gran Canaria has a great mixture of black and white sand beaches as well as pretty rural towns.

    New getaway: Madeira

Still after an island escape? Choose Madeira in summer 2021. This Portuguese isle makes for a well-rounded holiday. It boasts a subtropical climate, volcanic and lush, green landscapes, pebbly beaches and tasty cuisine. The capital Funchal has tons of picturesque sights including its harbour, gardens and the old town. Stroll the streets for a flavour of Madeira’s cultural highlights. Rua da Santa Maria puts the city’s street art on display whilst wine cellars offer a look (and taste) into Madeira’s popular export. Enjoy nature’s surroundings with a walk or hike through the island’s levadas (water channels through the mountains) or soak up the scenery from above on Monte Cable Car.

You can’t go wrong with trusty Turkey! Home to family holidays over the years, Turkey is the perfect mix of sun, sea and sights. Its stunning Turquoise Coast in Antalya has been a top choice for travellers seeking a relaxing getaway. But that’s not all, in many of Turkey’s top resorts there’ll be a variety of Roman ruins and other historical wonders to explore. Aside from that, Turkey has a huge range of all inclusive resorts and hotels which keep families coming back year after year. There’s no wonder it’s still on everyone’s minds for a summer holiday in 2021.

If the USA has caught your eye, Florida is just the spot for the summer. The Sunshine State is jam-packed full of action, adventure and non-stop fun. A trip to Orlando is perfect for families and even couples who are just big kids at heart. Why? Well, Orlando is the home of theme parks! Everything can be found here from Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort and LEGOLAND Florida Resort (to name a few!). On top of that, Orlando has loads of shopping opportunities, attractions (Madam Tussauds, Kennedy Space Centre etc.) and eating spots, especially down the famous International Drive. But Florida isn’t just for those looking for an action-packed trip. In fact, couples hoping for a romantic break will be sure to find it at Miami Beach. Enjoy the laid-back atmosphere and take it slow with powder-white sands right on your doorstep.

Which one will you pick? That is the question… Each Greek island is a gem in its own right as each one has something new and unique to offer. It’s no surprise that these islands remain a favourite for many. Couples love the likes of Santorini and Mykonos where whitewashed buildings contrast against the deep blue of the sea and where the sunsets are as romantic as they come. Crete is popular amongst most travellers and with the clearest waters in the Med, there’s no wonder. Whilst Rhodes and Kos are perfect for history buffs, so you can get your dose of Greek mythology and discover cultural treasures along the way.

Dreaming of the Caribbean? So are we. Crystal-clear waters, sugary sands and sunshine to envy, what more could you possibly want from a summer holiday next year? Even though it’s hurricane season during the summer, there’s still plenty of sun to go around the Caribbean. For idyllic beaches, adventurous turtle spotting and rum tasting galore, pick Barbados for the perfect break. The palm lined beaches are spectacular, whilst the sea is simply breath-taking. Visit Bridgetown for an authentic feel of the island as well as a spot of shopping. Harrison’s Cave will give you an intriguing insight into the wonders Barbados holds. You must top your holiday off with a trip to Mount Gay’s rum tasting where you can learn about the iconic brand as well as taste the very best of it!

Marrakech is popular amongst those hoping to witness Moroccan culture within a city break feel. In fact, it’s perfect for a short summer escape where you can discover the hustle and bustle of the souks and sample traditional foods. Agadir is the top Moroccan resort for families thanks to its beaches and family-friendly hotels. Plus, keen surfers and those hoping to explore a less touristy side of Morocco will love Essaouira.

Mexico also goes big when it comes to its hotels. There’re many with countless restaurants, several pools and endless activities. The all inclusive programmes are top-notch too! Mexico’s entertainment level is also out of this world. Aside from the usual water sports and beaches, you’ll find busy hotspots like 5th Avenue (Quinta Avenida) in Playa del Carmen, lined with authentic restaurants, shops and unforgettable nightlife hangouts.
