    Ras Al Khaimah, also referred to as RAK, is the northernmost Emirate and the fourth largest out of seven. Often in the shadow of the more popular Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah is one that shouldn’t be overlooked. Sure, it doesn’t boast the glitz and glamour that Dubai is associated with, or the huge world-famous events that have become so popular in Abu Dhabi. But Ras Al Khaimah still has its own unique attractions that are well worth experiencing. Ras Al Khaimah has plenty of opportunity to explore its highlight reel of culture and history. In fact, its archaeology is what stands at the forefront. So much so that is has been discovered that the region has had settlers since 5000BC. Head to interesting sites like Sheba’s Palace and Dhayah Fort. Or visit The Museum of Ras Al Khaimah which offers a fascinating insight to a wide range of artefacts that have existed for centuries, including the late Islamic period.

    Ras Al Khaimah’s historical and cultural sites are a refreshing change to the towering skyscrapers of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The Emirate is instead surrounded by natural wonders including its dramatic mountains which it is so well-known for.

    There’s plenty of things to do for you adventure types! From hiking along Ras Al Khaimah’s famous mountains to whizzing down the world’s longest zip line. It can all be done in this Emirate. Trek along the Hajar Mountains where you’ll not only be at one with nature, but you’ll get to snap impressive views along the way. On the other hand, the zipline in Jebel Jais is one for the thrill seekers covering a distance of 2.83km. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, have a go at Via Ferrata. What can you expect? Well, you’ll be making your way through Jebel Jais whilst attached to the side of the mountain by a cable. Plus, there’ll be three ziplines along the way (just for added excitement!).

    If you prefer to get your adrenaline pumping out on the water, the Arabian Gulf is perfect for water sports. Try your hand at kayaking or paddle boarding, or perhaps jet skiing is a bit more up your street? If you’d rather be up in the air, give parasailing a go!
