Barcelona and the Costa Brava
The Illa Fantasia Park Aquatic, in Vilassar de Dalt (a 30-minute drive north of Barcelona) has 22 attractions, including a 20-metre high ‘Kamikazi’ slide and a huge pirate ship. Water World Lloret, in Lloret de Mar on the Costa Brava has terrifying ‘free fall’ slides along with plenty of attractions for the youngest kids, while Aqua Brava in Roses, also on the Costa Brava, has 19 adrenaline-filled rides.
Costa Dorada
The Costa Dorada has plenty of water parks, including the PortAventura Costa Caribe Aquatic Park in Salou on the Costa Dorada, and offers a fun-filled day out with dizzying slides and a lazy river among its attractions. Other great choices on the Costa Dorada include Aquopolis in La Pineda and Aqualeon in Albinyana, which both have fantastic slides, rides and pools.
Costa del Sol and the Costa Tropical
On the Costa del Sol, take a ride on the half pipe or whizz down the 20-metre long Anaconda in Aqualand in Torremolinos. At Aquamijas in Fuengirola, there is a wave pool and an adventure river to go with the tubes and slides. In Almuñécar, on the Costa Tropical, the Aqua Trópic park, uses sea water, and has some exhilarating rides for the bravest visitors, along with plenty of gentle attractions for younger kids.
Costa Blanca
You can take your pick from a huge choice of water parks on the Costa Blanca, including Benidorm’s enormous Aqualandia, which boasts Europe’s highest water slide, aptly named ‘Verti-go’. Benidorm also has Aqua Natura, with crazy slides and huge pools, and the Aqua-Park Ciudad Quesada-Rojales, not too far from Alicante, also features some fantastic, adrenalin-pumping attractions.
Canary Islands
Siam Park in Tenerife is Spain’s biggest water park, an adventure wonderland filled with thrilling rides and slides, including the Tower of Power, which propels visitors through a tank of sharks and stingrays, and the world’s longest lazy river. Another top spot to cool off in the Canary Islands is Aqualand in Maspalomas on Gran Canaria, which has everything from the Racer Twin Turbolance, one of Europe’s longest slides, to the vertigo-inducing Anaconda.
Balearic Islands
On the Balearic Islands, the Western Park in Magaluf has the whirling Cola del Diablo (‘Devil’s tail’) slide, while at the Hidropark in Alcúdia you can hurtle down the Kamikaze slides or bob about in the wave pool. The Aqua-Center is Menorca’s only water park, a comparatively small park that has plenty for younger visitors including slides and bouncy castles.
