Why Malta is the Place to Be in 2017

With beautiful weather all year round and a stunning coastline, Malta is always going to be a great pick no matter when. But with the likes of GrooveFest making their debut on the island and returning favourites such as the Lost and Found Festival bringing big names in music to the island, 2016 is going to be something special. Here’s why Malta in 2016 is not to be missed…

    Isle of MTV

This year sees the 10 year anniversary of Malta’s top event, Isle of MTV. So far we know the line-up will include Jess Glynne and we’re eagerly waiting to find out the other big names (watch this space)! Not only is Isle of MTV a massive festival event on the beautiful island of Malta, it’s also completely free. And let’s be honest, which is more appealing; a weekend sludging through the muddy fields at a UK festival, or a holiday to this island haven where you can enjoy a free music festival?

Lost and Found Festival is making a return

The second year of the Lost and Found Festival will be taking place this year. Annie Mac took the lead last year and she’s back for round two in 2016 with the likes of Disclosure, Katy B and Mark Ronson. As well as some impressive artists, the festival also boasts boat parties and castle raves. If you’ve ever wanted to see Annie Mac play a few tunes in an ancient Maltese castle, now’s the time.

It’s the place to visit according to the NY Times 2016 List

Dubbed the ‘Mediterranean on a dime’, the NY Times features Malta as one of the places to visit this year. As its trusty list points out, the likes of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have clocked onto the island’s potential but plenty still don’t have Malta on their radar. Now’s the time to hop on board folks!

GrooveFest is making its debut in Malta this year

This popular holiday festival is having a go at Europe this year, and it’s going to be amazing. Choosing Malta as its home for the last weekend in April, GrooveFest will take place over three venues on the island and feature over 50 acts.

Asides from all the incredible events taking up the spring and summer calendar this year, Malta consistently offers beautiful beaches, incredible food and a wealth of culture. There’s no excuse not to sample this gem in the Mediterranean!
