We asked Lydia 10 holiday related questions to get you the inside scoop…
How do you usually book your holidays?
I book majority of my trips online. I like to shop around and compare prices from different airlines, comparison and travel sites.
Who do you like to holiday with?
I love holidaying with my family. Its a great way to spend quality time together and create lasting memories. My family, like me, love to explore different parts of the world and embrace local cultures, so we always cram so much into our trips. On our recent trip to South Africa we stayed in three different parts of the country and packed a safari, city exploring and a wine tour in ten days. It was like three different mini holidays.
Who do you think has more fun on holidays: girls or boys?
Girls girls girls, always have more fun.
What’s your top tip when packing for your holiday?
I pack for each day, so I am super organised with my outfit planning. This way you avoid overpacking and the stress of not knowing what to wear on the day. This may be a little OTT but I write a list so I don’t forget what accessories go with each outfit.
How many pairs of shoes do you usually pack with you?
Each trip is different, however for a one week sunshine holiday with the girls, I would probably pack 7 pairs of shoes. Two flats, a pair of trainers (for the gym) and four pairs of heels.
What’s the one thing you can’t live without on holiday?
My number one item has got to be my camera. I love taking snaps day to day but when I’m on holiday I think I’m Rankin. On my recent South Africa trip I easily took 100 pictures a day.
What’s your advice for holiday skincare? How important is it to you?
I naturally have very dry skin, so sunshine skincare is very important to me. I always ensure I wear SPF 30 everyday on my body and face and pack ultra hydrating creams. I love taking coconut oil for my hair to act as a mask before bed and also sometimes like to pop it in my bath.
How do you like to indulge on your holiday?
I always eat healthy and exercise, and when I’m on holiday this doesn’t stop. However, I do drink more alcohol on trips and try to be less regimented. This means having a dessert if I really fancy it and a full English on a bad hangover.
What’s the most exciting thing you’ve done whilst on holiday?
I have done some pretty cool things on my holidays, but one of my favourites was swimming with turtles in Indonesia last year. I love diving and after getting my PADI open water in Thailand the year before, meeting a turtle was ticked off my bucket list.
What’s your favourite holiday song?
I would probably say Sunshine by Tieks – it’s such a feel good tune.
