Visit now before everyone else does and enjoy a holiday that is bound to stay with you forever: a hidden gem of a country, Croatia is a shy beauty that awaits to be discovered.

    When to go

The Croatian coast has a typical Mediterranean climate meaning hot, dry summers and mild winters. With average temperatures in the mid-to-high 20s in summer (and quite often reaching well into the 30 degrees), this is the best time to visit the Dalmatian coast and the Dubrovnik Riviera. So, anytime between May and September is ideal for a beach holiday to Croatia – in fact, May and September are both pretty good choices as temperatures are pleasant without being too high: perfect time to do some sightseeing, sample the delicious local cuisine and enjoy the sunshine!

    What to do

For such a small country, Croatia actually offers quite a diverse range of experiences. No matter what you are after, chances are you will really enjoy your holiday to Croatia: savour the absolutely stunning natural surroundings as you supper on a delicious mixed grill or freshly caught grilled fish, get to know the country’s fascinating history and, of course, visit those famous beaches!

The coast attracts with glittering waters and smooth white pebble beaches. With a number of gorgeous and mostly unspoilt islands, there is something for everyone here – long strips of sand perfect for sunbathing for the leisure type, vibrant bars that will attract party-animals, and great seafood for foodies. Rugged mountains encompass it all, hiding stunning castles proudly showcasing the medieval heritage of the region – with a magical backdrop like that it is plain easy to see why Croatia is quickly becoming such a popular destination for travellers.

    Visit the islands

Hvar Island is one of the most attractive ones here as it is not only the sunniest place in the area (2724 sunny hours per year) but also full of elegant hotels, restaurants and bars. With a trendy night scene bound to make your nights exciting and a plethora of historic and cultural landmarks to fill your days with, Hvar is the ultimate Croatian destination.

What else? If you are after something a bit different and that little bit more serene, there is Mljet Island with its lush forests, vineyards and saltwater lakes: scenic and mesmerizing, this is the place to fall in love with.

    Beaches

Zlatni Rat is the one to go for: if you are going to visit one place make it this one. Got a bucket list? Add Zlatni Rat to it immediately. Why? This is a golden pebble beach stretching out to the Adriatic Sea like a tongue: basically, a natural sight worth your time. Located on Brac Island, Zlatni Rat is quite possibly the best beach in Croatia – gorgeous to look at, and boasting a Mediterranean pine tree forest that provides some welcome retreat from the hot sun. Plus, Zlatni Rat is perfect for windsurfing!

Speaking of water sports, if that’s what floats your boat then definitely check out Ba?vice – splendidly based right in the city of Split and boasting some super trendy summer bars and clubs, Ba?vice beach has soft sands and clear waters. This is also the home to the game pincigin – a volleyball-like game played in the sea (the aim is to prevent a small ball from hitting the water!).
