Solo city breaks
Exploring a new city, with all of its museums, galleries, shops, and landmarks, can make for a fantastic solo holiday. You can go where you please, wander the streets, taking in the sights and sounds around you, taking photos, and perhaps stopping to grab a snack or a drink in that tempting café. Not to mention the art exhibits, shops or shows that you want to see. Pure bliss.
Most European cities are great for solo travellers, with beautiful sights to see, lots to do (and eat), and safe streets to explore. One of our favourites is the vibrant Spanish city of Barcelona. From the quirky architecture, like the iconic Sagrada Familia cathedral, to the excellent museums and the warm climate, Barcelona is a city with a unique atmosphere and so much to experience. Treat yourself to some tapas (and make some new friends) in a lively bar, visit Gaudi’s famous Casa Batllo, watch some street performance on La Ramblas, chill out at the city beach, or relax in the beautiful Park Guell. It’s impossible to be bored in Barcelona!
Solo adventure holidays
Sometimes you just need to break out of the daily grind and get your blood pumping with a taste of adventure. And what better way to really discover what you're made of than with a solo adventure holiday? You can choose the experiences that really appeal to you; and the great thing is that you usually meet fellow adventurers along the way. Just think of the stories you’ll have to tell your friends back home!
Adventure holidays can involve anything from discovering a new country, to trying some adrenaline sports. One of the best places to experience both an exotic culture and some exhilarating activities is Morocco. Whether you want to explore the ancient medinas of Marrakech with their noisy, vivid markets, try some water sports in Casablanca, visit the Sahara Desert by quad bike (or camel), or get away from it all with some hiking in the Atlas Mountains, there’s plenty to explore. Treat yourself to something really different and return home revived and raring to go.
Solo beach holidays
When life gets busy, we all need a break. Work, family, colleagues - it can all get a bit much. A solo beach holiday can be one of the best ways to truly unwind and recover from the stresses of modern life. Lounge by the pool, catch up on your reading, swim in the sea and get that peace and quiet that you crave. You haven’t known real relaxation until you’ve watched the sun set with a cocktail in hand after a luxurious day of quality ‘me time’. And you deserve it!
There are heaps of gorgeous resorts that would make for a great solo beach holiday. The Balearic island of Majorca, with its sunshine climate, stunning sandy beaches and picturesque, white-washed towns is a lovely choice. The quiet resort of S’illot or the coastal city of Palma, with its sights, shops and outdoor cafés, make fantastic solo destinations. Or why not try the Algarve with its breath-taking views, charming traditional towns and mile after mile of golden sandy beaches. Try glamourous Vilamoura with its luxurious marina and watch the super yachts go by, or head to the dramatic west coast resorts like Burgau for Atlantic waves and a laid-back atmosphere. All you need is your sunglasses and a pile of great holiday reads!
