"With a blue flag beach of soft, golden sand that sweeps around a sleepy bay of crystal clear water, Pefkos is the ideal retreat for couples or a family looking to relax in the warm Grecian sun"

Taking its name from the pine trees that fringe the lovely sandy beach, Pefkos is a tiny resort set on the east coast of Rhodes. The perfect place to escape the bustle of the city and enjoy a more relaxed pace of life, Pefkos is a former fishing village that has lost none of its old world charm. With a blue flag beach of soft, golden sand that sweeps around a sleepy bay of crystal clear water, Pefkos is the ideal retreat for couples or a family looking to relax in the warm Grecian sun.

Much quieter than the nearby resort of Lindos, most of the activity in Pefkos revolves around the beach – when you see it in the flesh you’ll totally understand.  The village is packed with excellent eateries, and the locals are extremely friendly, so you’re sure to find something delicious to satisfy your palate. Whether you’re taking a gentle stroll along the warm, golden sand; stretching out on a lounger with a cold drink from one of the beachfront cafes; or making the most of the crystal clear waters with a spot of snorkelling; there seems to be something magical about the atmosphere here that makes holidays spent in Pefkos seem utterly timeless.

Things to do on holidays in Pefkos

The beach in Pefkos is home to some exciting water sports: you can learn to windsurf or snorkel in the clear waters. Glass bottomed boat trips are another excellent way of exploring the region’s marine life from the comfort of the deck, with opportunities to stop off for a swim.  Less than an hour’s drive away is the much-loved Faliraki Water Park. Perfect for a family day out, the park features dozens of slides ranging from thrilling black holes to gentle slopes for young kids. Just ten minutes from Pefkos by bus is Lindos, one of Greece’s most beautiful whitewashed towns and the site of an ancient acropolis. Just further up the road is the UNESCO heritage site of Rhodes Town, a real hotspot for exploring ancient culture and enjoying more contemporary luxuries.  Behind the town’s medieval walls are an impressive fortress and the Palace of the Grand Master, while the narrow cobbled streets also lead to designer boutiques, traditional craft shops and trendy bars.

Nights in Pefkos

The nights in Pefkos aren’t exactly jam packed with crazy nightclubs and all-night bars.  Apart from a couple of livelier hotels with karaoke and DJs, most of the bars in the village focus more on friendly conversation over cocktails and cold beers.  Those seeking a livelier pace after dark should probably look to Lindos or Rhodes Town where there is a casino, live music venues, and several nightclubs.
