You can enjoy the best of the beach on your Thessaloniki holidays. There are some glorious stretches of sand near the city, but for some even better ones, head slightly out of the city. The southerly places such as Agia Triada, Epanomi and Perea all have great beaches and are just as popular with the locals as they are with tourists.
Visit the White Tower of Thessaloniki, which is no longer painted white but is a natural stone colour. Located on the waterfront, it's the famous symbol of the city and was once a fort, then a prison and is now a museum, where you can learn all about the region's colourful past.
With plenty of things to do in Thessaloniki for those interested in space, the Thessaloniki Science Centre and Technology Museum provides visitors with truly a fascinating experience. Built in 1978 with the goal of fostering greater public understanding of science, among its attractions is a planetarium, a Cosmotheatre and a motion-simulator theatre, and there are a large number of exhibits.
