2nd DAY/TUESDAY CATANIA – MOUNT ETNA – TAORMINA - CATANIA
After breakfast, excursion to Mount Etna, We will reach a height of 1900 metres to visit the Sylvester Craters. Lunch in a local restaurant on Mt. Etna. Onto Taormina, a city founded in 400 BC and located overlooking the sea and the peak of Mount Etna. Enjoy time at leisure to shop and head down to “Corso Umberto” or walk through its tiny streets. Individual visit of the fascinating Greek-Roman theatre. Back to your Hotel in Catania: dinner & overnight.
3rd DAY /WEDNESDAY CATANIA – PIAZZA ARMERINA – AGRIGENTOAfter breakfast, depart to Piazza Armerina visit the known Villa Romana del Casale: the most complex collection of late Roman mosaics in the world. Continue to Agrigento. Lunch in a local restaurant. Thenvisit of the Valley of the Temples including the Temple of Concord, Juno and Heracles that represent the most beautiful example of the Greek Civilization in Sicily. 4th DAY/THURSDAY AGRIGENTO – SELINUNTE lunch in a farmhouse - ERICE –PALERMO After breakfast, depart to the Archaeological park of Selinunte, with impressive Temples and Acropolis. Stop in a local farmhouse famous for olive oil production where, before lunch, it will be possible to have an oil tasting of local produce, On to Erice, a medieval town full of history on the summit of Monte San Giuliano: Proceed to Palermo. Accommodation, dinner & overnight at Hotel Mercure Palermo Excelsior.
5th DAY/FRIDAY (MONTE PELLEGRINO/CAPO MARKET - OPTIONAL) PALERMO – MONREALE – PALERMO After breakfast, morning at leisure or optional excursion to Monte Pellegrino, the most famous mountain in Palermo, arrive at the shrine of Santa Rosalia, at the viewpoint enjoy a panorama of the Conca d'Oro. In the afternoon walk to one of historical markets of Palermo: The Capo Market” immersed in an explosion of vegetables, and fruits(supplement on the spot; the excursion will take place with a min of participants). Back to your Hotel for lunch. The afternoon, depart to Monreale to the Cathedral with its 12th century mosaics and the Cloister of the Benedictines Abbey. Visit of the Capital, Palermo with the Cathedral, the Palace of the Normans and its superb latinaChapel; tour of the historical centre (the Quattro Canti, the Opera House, the Pretoria Square).
6th DAY/SATURDAY PALERMO – (PALERMO SIGHTSEEING) After breakfast, morning at leisure or possibility to join a City Sightseeing and, thanks to its flexible hopon hop-off system, you can see the most important places of Palermo (the historic city centre, the Liberty area of the City, the most important villas and the Zisa Castle) - included in the price. 7th DAY/SUNDAY PALERMO – CEFALU’ – CASTELBUONO tasting of Sicilian typical products and lunch in a farmhouse – CATANIA After breakfast, depart to Cefalù, home to a breath-taking Norman Cathedral. Stroll the city,down main street to reach the Cathedral and the medieval wash-house built in the rock. Proceed to Castelbuono, a typical medieval village on the slopes of the Madonie. walk down the main street, admire the Church of “Matrice Vecchia” and the “Castello dei Ventimiglia” famous for its Palatine Chapel dedicated to Saint Anne, Stop at a renowned pastry shop with a tasting of Sicilian typical products:panettone and the famous artisan liquors. Lunch in a farmhouse in Castelbuono. Proceed to Catania, crossing the famous Natural Park of the Madonie. Accommodation, dinner & overnight at the Hotel Mercure Catania Excelsior.
